Prohoc is expanding its operations in Sweden by acquiring the Production and Field Services operations of Sumitomo SHI FW’s (SFW) Energi AB unit in Norrköping. The transaction is part of SFW’s strategic restructuring and marks a significant step in Prohoc’s growth in the Nordic region. The acquisition strengthens Prohoc’s position in the region and supports the company’s long-term goal of developing international industrial services. At the same time, it deepens the strategic partnership with an important customer.
“This is an important step for us. We are pleased to deepen our cooperation with a strategic customer and strengthen our presence in Sweden. Our goal is to ensure business continuity and a smooth transition for both personnel and ongoing projects,” says Kimmo Kohtamäki, CEO of Prohoc.
Stronger service offering in Sweden and the Nordics
Through the acquisition, Prohoc will take responsibility for the established and active service business in Norrköping, which is based on a large installed equipment base and continuous demand for maintenance and field services. The expansion supports the execution of the Global Field Services strategy and enables the further development and expansion of installation, commissioning, and maintenance services in Sweden and across the Nordic region.
Norrköping offers excellent conditions for growth, as it is a significant industrial hub and logistics center, supporting efficient service delivery to customers. The local service hub improves resource availability and enables faster response times for customers operating in Sweden and across the Nordics.
Continuity ensured for customers and personnel
For customers, this means that familiar teams, operating models, and a high level of service will continue unchanged. Ongoing projects and service agreements will proceed as normal, with no impact on daily contacts or service delivery.
All employees working in the Production and Field Services operations in Norrköping will transfer to Prohoc as existing employees. Employment terms will remain unchanged, ensuring the retention of expertise and uninterrupted service delivery.
Close cooperation with SFW continues
SFW will retain responsibility for customer relationships in the Swedish market and for the sales of its Services business. Prohoc will act as the company’s primary Field Service partner going forward.
The collaboration is based on a long-term partnership that combines SFW’s strong customer understanding with Prohoc’s ability to deliver services efficiently and flexibly. A clear division of responsibilities supports smooth operations, with the customer interface remaining unchanged while service production is strengthened and harmonized.
“It was important for us to find a partner that shares the same way of thinking and that we can build something with over time. With Prohoc, that alignment was there from the beginning,” says Mats Ohls, Senior Vice President of Services, SFW.
Growth creates new opportunities
The expansion into Sweden is part of Prohoc’s strategic objective to build a strong Nordic service platform. The company sees significant growth potential in the Swedish market as a partner for industrial, technology, energy, and process industry customers.
The transaction also strengthens Prohoc’s ability to offer broader service solutions by combining global field service expertise with strong local operational presence.
